Guided Wealth Portfolios (GWP)

Guided Wealth Portfolios is our digital investing solution that allows you to invest online with a low starting minimum and low-cost, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) while working with a personal financial advisor. Whereas other, similar solutions, called “robo advisors,” often require a large investment amount before granting access to a dedicated financial advisor, our solution allows you to start with only $5,000.*

Online Investment Platform

Tracking Towards Your Goals

Choose one goal (retirement) or several goals (vacation home and a boat!) using one easy tool.

Lower-Touch Advisor Model

Combination of a digital investment experience and a human if you want to connect!

Guided Wealth Portfolios is an innovative way to invest for your future, whether you want to invest for retirement or a major purchase like a new home—or simply want to get your money in the markets so it’s not sitting idle. You get insight into what’s happening in your account through your online portal, and if you ever have any questions about your investment strategy, your advisor is just a phone call away.

Low-Cost, Personalized Portfolio

All Guided Wealth Portfolios are made up of a mix of low-cost exchange-traded funds (ETFs). An ETF is a type of fund that owns groups of assets, like stocks or bonds, and is designed to provide portfolio returns in line with a particular index, such as the S&P 500. ETFs can provide you a diversified portfolio and are traded like stocks, making it easier to take advantage of market changes and potential tax-saving opportunities. Your Guided Wealth Portfolio account may contain up to 10 ETFs—six equity and four fixed income—each in line with a different index target and invested in U.S. or foreign stocks and bonds.

Low Minimum Investment

GWP has a low starting investment minimum of just $5,000. In some cases, to receive personalized advice from a financial advisor along with an automated platform (otherwise known as robo-advisors), you may be required to invest as much as $100,000. With GWP, the advisor experience is included with the minimum investment of $5,000.

Ideal Clientele

Have you considered investing with an advisor, but didn’t think you could because of the amount required or a lack of time? Or, if you’re currently investing, are you unhappy with your investment program? Are you a tech saavy person? Are you a self starter who prefers to DIY? GWP welcomes all investors, especially first time investors who need to start small. Perhaps you are wanting to start saving for a short term goal and are not sure where to start, we have you covered.

Enrollment made easy

It’s also really easy to get started with GWP. Whereas other investment solutions can require you to spend hours in an office, with GWP, you can do everything from your couch. All you need to get started is an email address. Next, you’ll provide some information so we can create the right strategy for you. You’ll let us know what your goals are, when you’ll need the money you’ll be investing, your age and marital status, your household income, and how much you want to invest.

The basic information you provided will form the backbone of the strategy. But to truly get it right, we need to know how you feel about risk when investing: conservative, aggressive or balanced. The aim is to find the right balance between risking the least while reaching for the most returns. That balance is different for each investor. How you answer the questions will tell us what the balance is for you.

After you answer the risk tolerance questions, you’ll get your personalized proposal! You’ll be able to see the portfolio allocation we think fits your individual situation, as well as how much money that portfolio allocation could potentially get you at the end of your investment timeline. Do you have an existing investment account you want to move over, or do you want to use cash sitting in your bank account? After providing all the necessary details, you’ll likely be able to complete account opening via DocuSign right away within the GWP interface.

Once you complete the DocuSign, all of your information will be sent to your assigned financial advisor. I will review your information and your portfolio strategy and determine if it’s the right strategy for you. If it is, your account will be opened, and you can start investing for your future today!

Let's talk fees

All platforms and services have a cost associated with them, because you’re paying for someone to manage your money.

First, there’s a platform fee, which is 0.35% of your accounts on the GWP platform. This pays for the technology, the sophisticated algorithms that run every night, and all the cool features that come along with it, like tax-smart strategies and ongoing rebalancing.

Second, there’s our fee, which we charge for watching over your account and ensuring your GWP portfolio is right for your situation.

Lastly, you have to pay to purchase the actual investments in your portfolio – the ETFs. On average, they cost about 0.15% of your total account. These fees are low for investments, which is one reason why we suggest GWP.
